PRESS: Actor Khabensky co-founds blockchain-platform Cinematix

MOSCOW, Jun 7 (PRIME) -- Famous Russian actor Konstantin Khabensky has co-founded blockchain-platform Cinematix to raise money for production of movies, and the product will be presented in late June or early July, the actor told business daily Kommersant in an interview, published on Thursday.

“I wonder what this new world looks like. The idea belongs to Ilya Zibarev, a financier and a tutor of the Konstantin Khabensky’s Charity Foundation, with whom we’ve been friends for a long time. He joined this story and offered me to participate with my knowledge, talent and taste. It seemed to me a pioneering step in the Russian system of assistance to cinema,” the actor said.

“I’m responsible for the creativity component and people, so that there will be no random people in the project. Many talented people, whose surnames are well-known, or maybe yet to gain fame want to and can participate in the creation of a movie.”

The founders will spend about U.S. $1.5 million of own money on the idea and $15–20 million of money collected during an initial coin offering (ICO) on a marketing and business strategy, work on cinema markets, on lawyers and consultants to offer a high-quality product.

“We plan to go forward in the professional environment of producers and directors and work with people who are ready to invest, crypto-enthusiasts and others. Those who want to invest should find high-quality movies with us, there could be 20–30 movies per year only in Russia, plus other markets. The platform’s users will be able to assemble a portfolio of various projects with different risks and yield,” he said.

Blockchain raises the level of transparency of operations. “A movie is released, and you get a range of rights and remuneration automatically,” Khabensky said, adding that if a movie does not earn money, people get what they can.

“Cinematix is a middleman between a producer and a buyer of a movie token. We’re an administrator that says what actors are engaged, a producer who is trusted. We guarantee a contract between a producer and a producing company and a token buyer. If they like what the producer offers, they can finance the project,” the actor said.

“It’s important that the platform will function partially as a charity fund and provide an opportunity to transfer part of money for charity.”

Khabensky said that the platform is interesting for foreign investors. “People write from India and Brazil offering partnership,” he said.

“Meanwhile, our primary task is to launch the platform on the Russian market this summer. We plan to unveil the project in late June–early July and want to show a beta-version of the product.”
